Crockett National Bank of Texas Crockett National Bank: Doing What We Promise.

Money Saving Tips!

Saving money isn’t easy.  It’s one of those things that we intend to do (and know we should be doing), but it just doesn’t always happen as planned. That’s why it’s important to create a system to save money automatically.  When you have a savings plan in place, it’s easier to save without having to think about it.  Here are some tips on how to get started:

Begin by opening a separate savings account here at Crockett.  This way you have a place separate from your checking account to put your savings as it accumulates.  Ask your employer if you can divide your paycheck direct deposit into different bank accounts. Many employers will allow you to send your paycheck to multiple accounts.  You never see the savings in your regular account and are less likely to accidentally spend it.

If you receive payments in cash, take a portion directly to the bank and deposit to your savings account.  It’s hard to save cash when it begins to burn a hole in your pocket!

Make sure you make a trip to the bank and deposit your savings the day you get paid.

Set up an automatic transfer to your savings account.  Crockett National Bank's iBanking and iBanking Mobile Money make it easy to complete transfers from checking to savings accounts!  Set up a recurring transfer for the day after you get paid and you’ll never miss it!

The biggest key to increasing your savings is to recognize that money that is readily available is easier to spend.  All of your actions must be set up to “trick” yourself from spending the money!

Think you don’t have enough money to save?  It’s okay to start small!  Even $10 a week (or even a month) is worth it.  The most important part of building savings is just getting started.  Create your savings plan and then add in additional money as it becomes available.  You could include a portion of your tax refund, birthday money, or proceeds from a garage sale.  It all adds up!
